The opportunity
As an Investment Analyst in Private Capital, you will have a key role in analyzing potential private equity fund investment opportunities, executing transactions, and monitoring and managing existing fund investments. Who you’ll work with
Every day, across a range of business sectors and in locations around the world, Ontario Teachers’, home to one of the world’s largest, most sophisticated pools of private capital, actively seeks opportunities for partnership and to invest in companies that are looking to grow. You will be joining our Toronto office where you will work directly supporting senior team members to evaluate and manage private equity fund investments.
The Global Funds team focuses on top-tier funds that deliver strong performance and access to partnering opportunities. The team targets private equity firms that have differentiated sourcing and value creation strategies that align with Private Capital’s direct / co-underwriting approach.
What you’ll do
Evaluate new and follow-on fund investment opportunities by performing fund manager and industry research, portfolio level analysis and detailed due diligence
Execute on new fund commitments, including preparing investment recommendations and transaction structuring and legal documentation
Develop and maintain relationships with general partners, limited partners, and various industry organizations
Represent Private Capital at annual meetings and industry conferences
Responsible for all aspects of the annual valuation process and ongoing monitoring and administration of fund investments
What you’ll need
A relevant undergraduate degree with excellent academic performance
Minimum 1 year of meaningful work experience, ideally in private equity, investment banking, corporate development, consulting or transaction services
Very strong analytical and quantitative skills with demonstrated in-depth, innovative and critical analysis
Exceptional attention to detail
Deep understanding of fundamental investment and valuation analysis
Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and tools such as Bloomberg and Capital IQ
An ability to balance competing priorities, work independently and thrive in a demanding high performance team environment
Self-motivated and intellectually curious
Excellent interpersonal, communications and collaboration skills
A high degree of professionalism and integrity
Willing / able to travel
