Manager, Cost Allocation & Analytics

This is a Contract position in Toronto, ON posted October 19, 2020.

What is the opportunity?

The Manager, Cost Allocation & Analytics will be responsible for overseeing the cost allocation framework and reporting of allocated costs for Capital Markets (CM) businesses, and providing key stakeholders with insights to assist with allocation decision making. The Manager will also actively participate in the CM Cost Data Transformation initiative to deliver greater transparency and insights to costs for the Capital Markets finance team.

What will you do?

  • Responsible for executing the CM monthly allocation processes, including providing oversight and management of the end-to-end allocation processes for CM internal and external Functions costs for monthly actuals, forecasts, plan and 5-year outlook
  • Provide monthly cost allocation playbook providing cost trend analysis and commentary at the overall CM level and work to expand commentary to the business unit level on a quarterly basis
  • Provide insightful analysis and commentary on support costs (T&O and Functions) including cost trends, reorgs, and allocation rate impacts for Plan and forecast
  • Execute and manage the annual CM Cost Pool rates calculations and prepare reporting for management review and distribution to key stakeholders
  • Key CM Finance contact for the Finance Shared Services Cost Allocation Services team (FSS CAS); manage and streamline the communication of CM allocation inputs to FSS CAS and establish clear roles and responsibilities.
  • Establish strong relationship with Corporate Support Finance Business partners to monitor project based gross cost trend, reorganization of FTE, allocation methodology or framework and pipeline Cost Management initiatives
  • Establish and manage quarterly meetings with Corporate Support partners to acquire strong knowledge of their services provided to CM businesses, upcoming strategic directions and allocation methodology or framework
  • As part of the CM Cost Data Transformation, build and maintain driver trees for key support cost expense lines in order to deliver greater transparency and clarity on cost allocation and improve cost management capabilities

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • 4+ years’ experience in financial services with a preference for understanding of Capital Markets businesses and transactions
  • Experience in management reporting and analysis, and/or financial resource optimization (capital, funding, and liquidity)
  • Experience in cost management and allocation methodologies
  • Very strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint Presentation skills required, with data mining skill and ability to explore new technologies to enhance the delivery of financial information
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with a strong ability to influence stakeholders mobilize groups to deliver on common goals

Nice-to-have    

  • CPA, CFA or Finance MBA
  • Experience in financial modelling including understanding of statistics, risk or other quantitative metrics
  • Solid experience and good understanding of bank structure, risk management concepts, financial markets and instruments
