Manager, FPA – Group Finance

This is a Contract position in Toronto, ON posted November 3, 2020.

Position Overview:

This is a multi-dimensional role that will touch on all aspects of the business and will lead the monthly reporting, monthly and annual forecast processes. Maintains and improves Anaplan forecasting model, prepares full set of consolidated financial statements and reporting packages to Senior Management and the Board, and provides ad hoc analysis to support key decision-making.

This role requires someone who is highly independent and self-motivated, not afraid to think outside the box and challenge the status quo, has a hands-on approach, possesses strong problem-solving skills, highly experienced in financial modelling, and the ability to join large data-sets from multiple sources using database software to create analytics and drive recommendations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the current forecast/planning process and develop recommendations for continuous improvement
    • Consolidate detailed budget and forecast submissions across all regions
    • Maintain and improve current Balance Sheet, Cash Flow and liquidity forecasting model
    • Work closely with the Accounting department to ensure planning assumptions are aligned with accounting and reporting standards
    • Challenge/document assumptions, understand key drivers and assess reasonableness
    • Identify risks and opportunities and recommend strategies to achieve company financial goals
  • Internal and External Reporting
    • Develop and provide commentary and visibility into financial performance and key business drivers in order to provide business insights to management
    • Support external reporting team and Investor relations team
    • Prepare Board Presentations, inclusive of highlights and key findings
    • Investigation and exploration of new KPIs
    • System
      • Maintain and continuously improve Anaplan digital forecasting model
      • Advanced user of the ERP system with the ability to extract data required for the FP&A team
      • Reduce need for manual data collection and improve the accuracy and speed of recurring reporting
      • Modelling
        • Maintain and improve the 5-year working model with a full set of Financial Statements
        • Develop financial models to support business decisions, including but not limited to Scenarios analysis, acquisitions, revenue trending, debt and covenant
        • Assist Director FP&A with Special Projects and perform Ad Hoc analysis and presentations
        • Experience, Education and Designations:

          • 8+ years of related work experience
          • Successful completion of a University degree in a relevant field (e.g. Accounting of Finance) from a recognized educational institution coupled with either an MBA or professional accounting designation
          • Experienced in financial modeling, data extraction and data integration
          • Experienced in modelling and financial statements forecasting including profit and loss, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
          • Advanced MS Excel/Access skills, including VBA, PowerPivot and Power Query

          Knowledge, Skills and Attributes:

          • Proven ability to conduct comprehensive analysis of varied and complex initiatives
          • Curious nature with an ongoing commitment to continuous improvement
          • Experience with a major ERP (Microsoft D365 preferred, but not required)
          • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to deal with competing demands
          • Advanced skills to extract data from multiple systems/sources and transform complex data sets into relevant conclusions and recommendations
          • Experience with Oracle, Anaplan, SQL, Tableau, is an asset
          • A can-do teammate who is willing to move projects forward, meaning you will wear different hats and be a project manager, developer, modeler and problem solver
          • Willingness to solve problems you may have not seen before
          • Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, time-sensitive and every-changing environment
