What will your typical day look like?


The Human Capital M&A Manager will support the execution of Human Capital initiatives throughout the M&A lifecycle. Managers will collaborate with senior leaders, manage junior practitioners, and contribute to the firm’s growth and development in a variety of ways:

  • Engagement management: Scope and plan engagements; manage engagement economics and risks; manage engagement teams; develop deliverable structure and content; ensure exceptional outcomes are achieved
  • Stakeholder management: Establish and sustain long-term relationships with top decision makers at key clients
  • Practice development and eminence: Create practical solutions and methodologies; develop “thoughtware” and “point of view” documents; support industry and eminence events sponsored by the firm
  • Talent development: Develop high performing people and teams by coaching junior practitioners; provide input into project staffing; support recruiting activities
  • Develop core offering expertise: Leverage expertise in M&A and Human Capital offerings to support sales pursuits and marketplace eminence
  • Sales and business development: Participate in business development activities; manage pursuit teams; support proposal development

About the team


Deloitte’s M&A Consulting practice delivers comprehensive consulting services and comprises Strategy, Operations, Finance, Human Capital, and Technology experts. Our practitioners are involved in all phases of the M&A lifecycle, including: strategy, due diligence, operational readiness, pre- and post-close integration/separation planning and execution, and follow-on transformation.

Our Human Capital M&A specialists plan, coordinate, and manage employee-focused initiatives throughout the M&A lifecycle. Services include: change management and communications; leadership alignment; workforce transition; culture assessment and integration; and HR function and service integration.

Enough about us, let’s talk about you


As a Manager, you have:

  • A bachelor’s degree with 6+ years (or a master’s degree with 5+ years) of relevant experience in a similar role in consulting or industry
  • 2+ years of team lead or management experience
  • A good understanding of Canadian and US employment law
  • Strong analytical skills, a fluency in Microsoft Excel, and comfort identifying and presenting insights to senior audiences
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment with ambiguous and changing requirements
  • A willingness and ability to travel up to 80% of the time
  • Experience working in the following industries:
    • Financial services
    • Energy, resources, and industrials
    • Technology, media, and telecommunications
    • Airlines, transportation, and aerospace
    • Consumer

    Experience In

    • Delivering M&A projects, accompanied by expertise in two or more of the following:
      • Change management
      • Strategic communications
      • Workforce transition
      • Leadership development & coaching
      • Culture assessment & integration
    • Identifying key client HR issues, determining client needs, evaluating and validating analyses, and developing recommendations
    • Cross-functional project management, contingency planning, and Day 1 planning to help execute transformation projects for mergers and divestitures
    • Facilitating cross-functional workshops on the planning and implementation of integration or separation projects, with a focus on change management planning and curating the employee experience
    • Guiding clients on key concepts for M&A engagements including demanding timelines, business continuity during transformation, and developing leadership alignment
