The Business Controls team is a first line of defense function responsible for improving the TDS control environment by establishing consistency and sustainability. We provide oversight and independent challenge through review, inquiry and discussion. We are responsible for supporting and ensuring compliance to several regulatory and Operational Risk Management programs. As well our team is responsible for a broad range of risk related programs, reporting and facilitating the execution of effective audit engagements for our business.

Job Description

Role Details:

The primary accountability of the role is to support TDS’ compliance with jurisdictional Privacy laws and regulations. The TDS Privacy team will act as the first line of defence against Privacy risk in TDS by managing and identifying Privacy risk in day-to-day activities. The role will support TDS management globally who, as Privacy risk owners must establish, implement and maintain procedures and controls, as appropriate and in line with TD’s risk appetite, to mitigate and manage Privacy risks applicable to their business, leveraging where possible existing governance, processes and controls. The role interacts with our global business, partners and second lines of defense in all TDS jurisdictions.

Job Accountabilities:

  • You support the TDS Privacy Program through implementation, maintenance and compliance with Privacy-related policies, standards, procedures and guidelines
  • You provide Privacy-related subject matter knowledge applicable to TDS’s products, services and initiatives
  • You support the review Privacy Impact Assessment and co-ordinate required approvals
  • You’re responsible to identify Privacy-related issues and breaches and when necessary escalate issues to management while ensuring prompt resolution
  • Build positive working relationships by effectively communicating and regularly sharing information
  • Demonstrate awareness of project dependencies and risks, ensuring that they are effectively managed

Requirements

  • Strong risk management and/ or compliance background
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively interact at all levels coupled with a passion to build strong working relationships
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, dynamic, detail oriented, sometimes ambiguous environment
  • An ability to grasp and translate technical concepts, think independently and a high degree of initiative required to present options in resolving issues
  • Strong background and knowledge of capital markets, their functions and processes
  • Professional financial or accounting designation (e.g. CPA, CFA, CIPP etc.)
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of Audit, Compliance or Risk Management experience
