Senior Leasing Manager

Purpose:
The Senior Leasing Manager reports to the Director, Canadian Banking and is accountable for completing retail and office leasing transactions. The incumbent is expected to negotiate with third parties represented by senior, seasoned negotiators at all levels. 

 

Accountabilities:
1.    The Senior Leasing Manager is responsible for managing, including negotiation, various types of retail and office lease transactions for a designated portfolio of properties. This includes timely, value effective retail and office space strategies are delivered in accordance with the Bank business needs.  Assist with domestic property issues, as requested, from time to time.

2.    Assist in the due diligence review of market and property conditions and the assessment of alternative opportunities to formulate appropriate real estate and business recommendations for Senior, Line and Executive Management.

3.    Manage effective administrative control over a designated portfolio of retail and office real estate to protect the Bank’s tenancy or ownership interest.

4.    Provide research support and execute special project initiatives. 

5.    Source, cultivate and manage a network of internal/external contacts to determine banking, competitor and industry trends to provide good information and recommendations to the Director Office, Leasing.  

 

Requirements:
The position requires a quick thinker with tactical sense, and excellent financial, technical and market knowledge. The incumbent must have strong organizational, interpersonal, business, analytical and presentation skills. The incumbent must exercise a high degree of judgement, initiative, and planning skills in order to determine appropriate courses of action to resolve sensitive situations. 

The incumbent requires self-initiative, resourcefulness and strong organizational ability to manage a diverse range of interests and issues in completing appropriate property transactions.  Excellent oral and written communication skills are also required to make verbal presentations and prepare reports in accordance with Real Estate Dept. standards for submission to Senior and Executive Management. A high level of energy, enthusiasm, dedication and commitment is also necessary.   
The incumbent must be flexible and reliable, able to work effectively within a team environment, be willing to share knowledge and ideas, and must display considerable initiative in situations where autonomy is required. 

In summary, the incumbent is required to:
•    have strong analytical skills leading to effective and efficient problem solving;
•    be a critical thinker with the ability to grasp complex issues and communicate them in a succinct manner to achieve a common vision;
•    have maturity of thought to understand the alternatives available in a variety of situations;
•    have excellent skills in negotiating, communicating (written and verbal) and conflict resolution skills; and
•    have experience in real estate, leasing, real estate market trends and economic conditions.

 

Education/Other Experience:
•    University degree/College diploma in related field.
