Tax Specialist, Mining

KPMG Canada

This is a Contract position in Toronto, ON posted November 5, 2020.

Overview

The Global Mining Tax Group specializes in providing tax services to mining and mining royalty companies, from the smallest juniors to the senior operators with world-wide operations. We are growing and seeking a tax professional to join our team to provide our clients with exceptional service, creative and quality advice and to help us continue to grow.

What you will do

  • Tax compliance, tax accounting, and tax planning, including coordination with foreign offices, and collaboration with tax specialists in other tax practices which include international tax, transfer pricing and indirect tax
  • Collaborating with experienced tax professionals and you will develop a varied skill set
  • Research and analysis of a wide variety of tax issues.

What you bring to the role

  • Obtained or in the process of obtaining the CPA designation
  • Experience with tax compliance and tax accounting
  • Completion of any of the modules/levels of the CPA In-Depth (“In-Depth”) tax course or graduated from the MTax program
  • Ability to research and write and utilize electronic tax tools 
  • Excellent client service skills with the ability to understand the clients’ businesses
  • Proven ability to interact with co-workers, management and clients alike in a manner that is respectful, patient, and understanding.
  • Demonstrates the ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Willingly takes on and learns new skills by researching a wide variety of tax issues.
  • Excellent client service skills with an aptitude to understand the clients’ business and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong client relationships.
