Manager, Partnerships & Stewardship

St. Joseph’s Health Centre Foundation is an innovative fundraising organization committed to connecting with our west end community and supporting our St. Joe’s Promise to look after the unique health needs of our 500,000 neighbours. This Promise is rooted in a century-long tradition of community care begun in 2021 by our Founders, the Sister of St. Joseph.

We have grown in recent years to be a leading community hospital foundation with a dedicated team, and a strong and engaged board of directors. In 2019, we announced reaching a milestone of $100M raised through our Promise campaign.


Reporting to the Vice President, Community, the Manager, Partnerships & Stewardship is an integral part of the Community team. This role is focused on achieving the Foundation’s goals and business objectives by building and executing a sustainable corporate partnership plan and creating and executing a best in class donor stewardship program.   

Managing a portfolio of donors and prospects, they will be responsible for developing a strategy to generate partnerships and sponsorships over $10,000 – from corporations, local businesses, corporate foundations and community organizations which are central to our fundraising success. 

They will also be responsible for building and overseeing our stewardship program. This includes building a best practice program that creatively engages donors, recognizes their support and reports back regularly on the gift impact. Working closely with development team members, they will support the successful execution of this plan.

The incumbent is a frontline fundraiser with specific community and corporate partnership revenue goals and will work closely with the Manager, Events and Volunteers in order to drive the fundraising plan for our signature fundraising events. They are part of the community team working closely with the President and Vice Presidents and will support the work of the community and development groups in a variety of ways.

The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, relationship builder, clear communicator and strong executer who likes a challenge and is dedicated to finding opportunities for the Foundation to expand its revenue base. The role also requires an excellent administrator and write, someone who is detailed oriented with a high-level of organizational skills.  They will know our west end community well and will work with the Foundation team to mobilize the community; build awareness of the Health Centre; and raise critical funds.


Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Acquire and maintain sound knowledge and understanding of the organization and all projects and programs funded by the foundation
  • Remain abreast of best practices in the field with respect to corporate engagement, recognition and stewardship
  • Cultivate, solicit, manage and steward existing corporate partnerships with a goal to create long-term commitments and increase revenue;
  • Develop and implement a corporate partnerships strategy to identify new prospective partners;
  • Draft proposals for solicitation meetings with prospects and partners;
  • Integrate corporate partners into community initiatives
  • Research, compile and write a range of corporate donor communications materials for both internal and external purposes
  • Write personal appreciation and stewardship letters for leadership donors and volunteers
  • Work closely with the Development and Events teams to develop donor acknowledgment, recognition and stewardship strategies, and deliver customized materials to both donors and prospective donors, as required
  • Coordinate the creation and delivery of stewardship reports
  • Attend events as necessary
  • Continuously evaluate the partners’ and donors’ satisfaction in order to design opportunities with the goal of increasing or diversifying revenue potential and deepening donor relationship;
  • Maintains relationship data corporate partners and stewardship activities and reporting requirements in CRM database (Raiser’s Edge);
  • Contributes to Foundation team initiatives, plans and meetings;
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.



  • University or college degree required;
  • At least five years of related experience; fundraising, corporate partnerships, stewardship;
  • Fundraising experience in health care environment preferred, ideally with experience working on corporate partnerships and/or stewardship;
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint;
  • Preferred experience working with Raiser’s Edge fundraising software;
  • Outstanding communicator and strong team member;
  • Superior writing skills;
  • Strategic thinker;
  • Organizational skills and detail oriented is a must;
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
