This role is a 12-month contract and will report to the Vice-President, Corporate Strategy.

What can you expect in this role?

You will be accountable for developing and leading the implementation of an ESG strategy for the Company. You will manage the realignment, augmentation and integration of existing social responsibility and other sustainability initiatives and corporate governance practices into a comprehensive ESG program.  Working closely with internal leaders in business and functional areas, you will help recommend and launch sustainability initiatives that drive business results and positive environmental and social impact. With your demonstrated passion and belief in ESG, you will help drive alignment on a holistic vision for the Company’s ESG philosophy and an executable roadmap to achieve those goals.

  • Develop strategy and policies on ESG integration and stewardship, using a consultative process to partner with internal stakeholders in various functional areas
  • Identify and prioritize sustainability initiatives by considering market trends and opportunities, investor expectations and other stakeholder requirements
  • Partner with key stakeholders across the organization to facilitate effective implementation of sustainable initiatives, and champion and influence a culture of sustainability
  • Create, implement and manage tools and frameworks to aid in decision-making
  • Maintain awareness of new ESG standards and best practices, and make appropriate recommendations on adherence
  • Create presentations for executives and board as needed on ESG contextual information and relevant organizational activities
  • Provide subject matter expertise and support on all ESG matters across the Company

What do you bring to the role?

  • 6+ years of relevant work experience (such as corporate sustainability, corporate strategy or policy development) in the financial services industry, gained at a company with a strong emphasis on ESG or in management consulting at an ESG practice
  • An undergraduate degree in business administration, sustainability, environmental sciences or other relevant programs.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
  • You have experience and deep knowledge in ESG standards, reporting frameworks, policies and governance
  • You are passionate about sustainability and social responsibility, and this is reflected in your work experience
  • You are persuasive and influential, and able to generate organizational excitement and engagement
  • You possess exceptional verbal and written communication skills across a range of contexts
  • You are known for your sound judgment, with the ability to critically analyze situations and problem-solve, and able to provide meaningful and practical advice and recommendations.
  • You have a high degree of personal ethics, integrity and responsibility with an ability to deal with sensitive issues and safeguard confidential information
  • You are a team player who is adaptable to a changing environment
