UHN Department of Pharmacy Services is committed to providing optimal patient care by supporting a structure which integrates professional knowledge, ethics, skills and experience in the delivery of patient-focused care and supporting pharmacy services. Pharmacy services are provided for inpatients of UHN as well as for outpatients through our retail pharmacy at each site. Pharmacists play an integral role within the multidisciplinary health care team through identification, resolution and prevention of drug-related problems, development of pharmacy care plans, participation on patient care and teaching rounds, membership on quality teams and provision of drug information.

As an integral member of Pharmacy Services, the LEADER, PHARMACY INVENTORY OPERATIONS is responsible assisting the Inventory Manager in managing responsibility for daily inventory operations at all UHN sites. The successful candidate is also responsible for implementing pharmacy inventory projects, coordinating staff training in operations, maintaining policies and procedures for new system/upgrades, providing expertise in pharmacy inventory contractual obligations to maximize efficiency of the hospital’s drug procurement and distribution systems. He/She will also be involved in various committees: Pharmacy Quality, Formulary, All-site operations meetings and Safe Medication Practice.


  • Completion of a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from a recognized program of study or recognized
  • Advanced degree, Master in Health discipline/ business, Pharm D. preferred.
  • Four to Five (4 -5) years practical pharmacy experience
  • Previous supervisory or management experience
  • Certificate of competency from the Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada
  • Active registration with the Ontario College of Pharmacists
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Material Information Systems (W.H.M.I.S.) requirements, Body Substance Precautions, confidentiality, etc.
  • Knowledge of Accounting processes
  • Pharmacy residency certificate preferred
  • Pharmacy experience in a hospital setting preferred
