Reports To:  Manager 
Hours:  22.5 Hours/Week – Variable Shift Starting Times:  06:30, 06:45, 07:00, 08:30
Status:  Permanent Part-Time

University Health Network (UHN) is looking for an experienced professional to fill the key role of Patient Management Centre Representative in our Pre-Admission Clinic.

As a member of Patient Management Centre, the Representative duties include: ensuring the provision of optimum customer services; collecting, verifying and correcting patient demographic information; generating revenue by investigating insurance coverage, patient accommodation and allocation options; maintaining on-going awareness of Hospital-wide bed inventory and performing other relevant activities to facilitate optimum revenue generation;  responsible for entry of lab/diagnostic test Physician orders into EPR; assembling patient charts to ensure that there is a chart for each patient under going general anaesthetic;  ensures that follow-up with Doctor’s offices or Pre-Admission, occurs;  performing unit specific activities to ensure the effective operation of the unit; performing cross-functional support functions, as assigned; performing other duties consistent with the job classification, as required.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of Grade XII or recognized equivalent
  • Previous mainframe, word processing, database and spreadsheet experience
  • Excellent Microsoft office skills including Word and Excel
  • Previous working experience with work flow, coordination of information – Pathways Health-care Scheduling (PHS) booking and EPR skills required
  • Knowledge of ORSOS preferred
  • Demonstrated commitment to the delivery of excellent customer service
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and patient/customer services skills; sensitivity to patients and families, fears and anxieties – ability to use good judgment in assessing and/or responding to difficult situations
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Typing skills of 50 words/minute
  • Ability to produce detail-oriented, accurate work – ability to establish and adhere to priorities
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • One year (1)  related experience working in a health care environment preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
  • Must be willing to be cross trained to clinic booking role
