Summary of Duties:

• Provides comprehensive neurological assessments, interventions, consultations, education and discharge planning for stroke patients and their families
• Collaborates with the inter-professional team in providing patient-centred care on the stroke unit and for stroke patents located on other units of the hospital including emergency
• Participates in quality improvement initiatives, evaluate processes that include the use of standardized and valid outcome measures, report writing and research activities that support the operations of the acute stroke unite, the hospital and the Regional Stroke Network
• Participates in continuing professional development activities including provision of clinical and educational in-services that fosters ongoing learning, professionalism, inter-professional collaboration and best practices in stroke care
• Is an expert resource for staff, students and other health care providers related to physiotherapy. Participates on appropriate committees pertain on the operation of the Stroke unit. Participates in discipline-specific activities within Physiotherapy services. Provides supervision of physiotherapy or inter-professional education of students as needed

Qualifications/Skills:

• MSc[PT] or equivalent
• Licensed by the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario
• Member of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association
• One to two years of general acute care physiotherapy experience
• Experience in neurological rehabilitation and/or stroke rehabilitation
• Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Strong time-management and organizational skills
