Registered Practical Nurse – COVID Assessment Center TWH

This is a Contract position in Toronto, ON posted November 5, 2020.


Position:  Registered Practical Nurse 
Site: Toronto Western Hospital
Department: COVID Assessment Center
Scale/Grade:   B0 57
Salary Range:  $30.75 – $31.43 per hour (Start rate determined in accordance with collective agreement requirements)                        
Hours:  75 Hours/Week – Shifts; 0800- 2000 and 1030-1830 ; Monday to Saturday
Status:  Temporary Full-time (Up to 6 Months)

Based at Toronto Western Hospital, the Covid-19 Assessment Centre provides assessment and testing for the Covid-19 virus.  We are presently looking for Registered Practical Nurses to join the team.  Primary responsibilities include assessments, performing Nasopharyngeal swabs and patient teaching. 


  • Completion of college, or other approved Registered Practical Nursing program including practicum experience
  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.) certification
  • Current medication certificate which meets the standards of practice established by the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Knowledge and awareness related to cultural competence
  • Proven ability to problem solve effectively and independently, organizational skills (managing workflow, assessing and judging priorities, planning, multi-tasking)
  • Commitment to patient-centered care with the ability to adapt to a diverse patient population
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team
  • Excellent interpersonal and crisis intervention skills
  • Experience and comfort working with electronic medical records
