Job Description

What You’ll Be Doing

As member of CIBC’s Oracle Platform Services team, you will provide subject matter expertise to initiatives as they relate to the design, implementation and support of major infrastructure technology in a multi-platform environment. As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you will provide technical leadership, standards and best practices during infrastructure design and build phases of projects.  You will Design, develop and test emerging infrastructure software solutions. You will develop automation scripts to deploy Oracle database and middleware across multiple platforms and provide ongoing operational support.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Leadership & Communication – Collaborate with engineers, developers, lines of businesses stakeholders and outsourcing vendors to make informed recommendations and engineering solutions. Refine business requirements, convert them into technical requirements and devise appropriate infrastructure solutions on multiple technologies. Promote creative, original thinking and apply it to existing and emerging situations.
  • Governance – Proactively contribute to governance initiatives in the development of company policies, audit requirements etc. Provide technical or business guidance to clients within and outside your own department. Ensure that solutions stay within the guidelines of security/audit standards and conform to industry best practice. Produce a variety of standards documents that demonstrate command of language, clarity of thought and orderliness of presentation.
  • Engineering – Understand various design patterns which can be leveraged in the design of a new environment and for applications. Remain current with evolving technological products and features and constantly changing business needs, internal standards and industry best practices. Resolve complex technical issues and/or engaging external expertise/resources as required to ensure resolution. Gather anecdotal and factual information from a number of sources in order to formulate a root cause.
