Senior IT Analyst, TNS Instrumentation

This is a Contract position in Toronto, ON posted January 5, 2021.

What is the opportunity?

To facilitate the Network Instrument installation, configuration, automation, systems, and processes as they relate to Telecom Network Services.

All responsibilities are to be carried out in accordance with Code of Conduct, RBC Values and Guiding Principles ensuring adherence to Privacy principles.

What will you do?

Environment Monitoring

  • Responsible for the monitoring and processing of applications across  multiple platforms 
  • Ensure proper documentation is gathered and analyzed on a daily basis in order to achieve root cause on all incidents
  • Ensures problems are quickly identified through review
  • Monitoring, Inbound calls, e-mail or tickets while providing the highest possible level of production support and service to clients. Engages appropriate operations/support personnel on a technical level to resolve in a timely manner
  • Reviews all errors with management and recommends permanent solutions to avoid a reoccurrence and identify the potential impact to the bank.

Maintenance, Resiliency and Patch Deployment

  • Responsible for the Hardware maintenance for servers which are past/approaching the warranty end date
  • Responsible for the team ensuring all servers meet TSS compliance, remediate all TSS non-compliant issues.
  • Installs Vendor and OS patch upgrades
  • Responsible for executing effective capacity management processes which include Planning & estimating, technical design & consulting, coding & testing, communicating and documenting

Provisioning

  • Act as a single point of contact for all to facilitate, install, and configure related equipment responsible for
  • Define new monitoring method, deployment planning

Incident and Response Problem Management

  • Responsible for ensuring all incidents that are reported have been responded to within all SLAs. 
  • Respond to and remediate incidents; escalating when appropriate
  • Work with members of the team to drive solutions to open problems
  • Work with vendors to trouble-shoot and repair failed systems

Training and Education

  • Responsible for the training and education processes for user communities.  Responsible for designing and running training sessions.
  • Documentation for most common use cases of tools and systems.

What do you need to succeed?

Must have

  • University or College Degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • 4-7 years related experience which includes:
    • Full understanding of Network Topology, various network components
    • CISCO / Arista platform configuration knowledge and understanding
    • Deep understanding of Application layer protocols, TCP/IP
    • Familiarity with network monitoring tools
    • REST API integration with various tools and programming language like python
    • Execution Excellence, Collaboration, Simplification & Efficiency, Python (required),

    Nice to have

    • CCNA, CCNP, ITIL V3 Foundation
    • Knowledge or experience in Java and/or Python
    • Industry knowledge of networking technologies and vendor products, solid understanding how they are implemented within the financial services industry
