Job Description

What you’ll be doing

The Associate Portfolio Manager, Fixed Income, is an integral member of the Fixed Income Team. The incumbent will contribute to the management of High Yield portfolios through researching and recommending securities, visiting companies and providing other portfolio construction and management support to contribute to positive fund results. While the primary focus of the research will be the High Yield portfolios, as a member of a dynamic and collaborative team, it is expected that the research insight will be shared with the Credit Analysts and Investment Grade Portfolio Managers within the Fixed Income team and the CAM investment group. The incumbent will contribute to the Marketing and Servicing effort pertaining to both institutional and retail client bases.

How you’ll succeed

  • Accountable for the development of executable High Yield investment strategies utilizing both fundamental credit research and quantitative analysis. Assist in establishing risk adjusted portfolio positions via both industry and issuer to outperform respective benchmarks. Issue and maintain research reports and company financial models. Evaluate the general conditions of companies within the High Yield market, analyze corporate performance and select specific High Yield bonds for purchase or sale in the funds. Monitor and support portfolios as required.
  • Establish and maintain good relationships with the investment dealer community. Work collaboratively with the other asset teams at CAM. Present and communicate both internally with colleagues and externally with prospects and clients of the firm. Contribute to the marketing and servicing effort pertaining to both the Institutional and Retail client base.
  • Differentiate and monitor necessary drivers for outperformance of industries and companies within the corporate sector of the fixed income market. Support buy and sell decisions presented to the Credit Committee based on credit fundamentals.

Who you are

  • You have strong technical and analytical skills. This includes financial and accounting skills. Strong understanding of High Yield debt markets and corporate credit analysis. Proficient in computer modeling, spreadsheet analysis (Bloomberg API).
  • You are a certified professional. Completion of a related undergraduate degree, MBA and CFA preferred
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal which must be effective at influencing colleagues
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment
  • Ability to perform under pressure on a trading desk, and ability to prioritize and multi task responsibilities
