Content Producer, Breakfast Television

Breakfast Television is looking to hire a highly-creative Content Producer. Working closely with the Supervising Producer and on-air talent, the candidate will create relevant and engaging live television segments to wake Canadians up every morning and engage with audiences anytime on the brand’s digital channels. The ideal candidate is able to conceive of entertaining and engaging segments across a broad range of topics from lifestyle to entertainment to current events. 

This person will be able to produce creative variety show style content with viewer engagement top of mind. This person is nimble and eager to stay ahead of the trends and takes pride in being able to make things happen, from conception to delivery. They must have a passion to be on top of current events in Toronto and across Canada, and have a desire to inspire audiences to feel good and have fun. Delivering highly relevant and valuable content that will attract and engage our target audience is a must.

What You’ll Do:

  • Produce multiple segments each week to appear on broadcast and/or digital
  • Chase leads, pursue “exclusive” content, and pitch original story and segment ideas
  • Relationship management and development, work with on-air guests and publicists to develop industry leading content
  • Provide creative and practical input during all phases of production (ideas, scripting, interviews, asset gathering, music selection, preparation for editing)
  • Demonstrate creative thought leadership, providing inspiration for the show and digital content
  • Stay ahead of trends/pop culture/world events
  • Secure brand relationships to provide giveaways
  • Produce sales integrations across multi channels
  • Conduct engaging interviews with a range of interview subjects; pursue unique and audience focused angles in order to create remarkable moments
  • Source an extensive list of subject matter experts to diversify Breakfast Television’s on-air and online specialist complement
  • Pre-interview broadcast guests and repurpose on-air content for digital platforms
  • May be required to lend your expertise on-camera

What You’ll Have:

  • Proven experience in content creation across all platforms including digital/social media
  • Strong editorial judgment and organization skills, along with the ability to multitask and prioritize under pressure
  • Strong storytelling capabilities with a passion for finding characters and stories that are emotionally and visually captivating
  • A sound understanding and experience with all elements of the production process
  • Experience in all facets of production including logistics, story editing and writing
  • Proven track record of creative and engaging storytelling
  • Must be collaborative, have strong interpersonal skills and be an excellent communicator
  • An appreciation of the Breakfast Television brand and of what goes into creating engaging content for our viewers
  • Solid understanding and ability to use digital media tools and technologies (i.e. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube, TikTok)
  • Control room experience not necessary but an asset
  • Ability to ideate on digital-only content to amplify the Breakfast Television brand
  • Willingness to adopt to and embrace new technology for digital and broadcast
