We are looking for customer-focused, collaborative and strategic individuals with a strong passion for product leadership to join our Indirect Tax team in the role of Product Owner. Indirect Tax is continuing to experience rapid growth and change. This Product Owner role is critical to delivering the right capabilities in a very complex global market. It’s an exciting opportunity to participate in a dynamic and fast-paced environment working on our most modern capabilities.

The Product Owner will focus his/her efforts on driving the prioritization and grooming of the backlog for their development teams.  You will be coordinating multiple efforts and leading collaboration with many different team members across the organization including product managers, platform analysts, user experience, and indirect tax compliance teams. The ideal candidate will be well versed in indirect tax technology and bring an understanding of important customer needs. This person will work with others to ensure that we continue to deliver market-leading products.

This role requires relentless attention to detail and critical thinking to translate customer needs into user stories with the strategic context to feed our engineering teams.  Our product strategy, feature set, and various other product and go-to-market components will be heavily influenced by our customer segmentation, our organizational alignment by customer sub-segment, and direct user feedback.  

About the Role

As a Product Owner, you will: 

  • Build and Develop – solutions for complex problems by understanding customer needs, working through roadmaps and backlogs, collaborating with development and the business in executing full SDLC from design through release

  • Be a Team Player – work in a collaborative team-oriented environment, share information, value diverse ideas, partner with cross-functional and remote teams

  • Be Curious & Innovative – passionately curious and obsessive over our customer’s problems and needs

  • Be an Agile Person – with a strong sense of urgency and a desire to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment to deliver solutions against strict timelines

  • Be an Effective Communicator – articulate complex issues through simple stories, share ideas, participate in peer-reviews, and exhibit strong listening skills

  • Take Extreme Ownership – responsible for products, teams, and client experience

About You

You’re a fit for the role of Product Owner if you have:

Basic qualifications:

  • Experience as a Product Owner or BA in enterprise-class business process software in finance, real estate, tax, or other B2B domains is a plus 

  • Experience documenting user requirements, fully documenting enhancement requests and repeatable bugs, and/or decomposing Features into prioritized, sprint-ready user stories for a specific product or module

  • Experience validating requirements with customers representing User Personas

  • Experience resolving impediments for complex requirements by engaging appropriate stakeholders and users

  • Demonstrated strong project management and facilitation skills to drive consensus with cross-functional resources

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills

  • A strong track record of organized delivery (with decisive and well-supported outcomes) against the complex client and varying business demands

  • Demonstrated ability at managing across boundaries, exerting influence without authority, and collaboration between groups. 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including presentations, project plans, and status reports.

  • Experience working with cross-functional and remote teams

  • Eager to learn and willingness to take initiatives

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience  

  • Experience in Indirect Tax technologies and subject

  • Experience working on and managing complex solutions that traverse the global landscape

  • Azure Dev Ops experience is preferred
