What is the opportunity?

As a Data Scientist, you will analyze, design and implement data science solutions at RBC Internal Audit (IA). Data Science allows us to better understand the implications of what information means, identify trends, anticipate future behaviors, perform pattern matching that leads to a future decision and predict the outcomes of future events and violations. Our group specializes in taking full advantage of large data sets to explore and discover new insights that would have not been possible with traditional analytics. Leveraging leading edge technologies and capabilities, we apply machine learning and statistical modelling techniques to help auditors understand the changing business environment, discover outliers and un-usual behaviors or trends

  • Prepare and integrate large and varied datasets to build statistical and machine learning models.
  • Validate and quantify accuracy and precision of analysis.
  • Clearly present findings to stakeholders
  • Prepare and integrate large and varied datasets and implement statistical and machine learning models using Python and R. Deploy production-scale solutions using the Hadoop Ecosystem, transforming statistical and machine learning models from single node architecture to parallel processing grid technology
  • Effectively communicate findings to business partners and executives. Leverage advanced visualization tools to create powerful representations of results.  Enable data-driven insights to be translated into decisions and actions by telling a convincing story.
  • Act as a liaison between the business analysts and the auditors (i.e. communicate audit requirements to system technical staff in order for them to execute the desired tests and produce results
  • Use business domain knowledge to lead the analytics process with business partners to identify requirements and expected outcomes

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • 2+ years of experience in Machine-Learning, data mining and statistics.
