Manager, Merchant Insights

This is a Contract position in Toronto, ON posted April 30, 2021.

What is the opportunity?

In this role, you will be responsible for providing financial and business insights supporting merchant partnership, including strategic partners (e.g. Petro), and merchant partnerships on RBC Offers Platform.    You will support Merchant Solutions with actionable insights and recommendations.  Acting as Merchant/Offers COE and stakeholder, you will be liaison with our partners in Loyalty & Rewards, across P&CB and RBC Ventures (Enterprise Partnerships).

What will you do?

  • Identify, manage, analyze, and interpret data to support the creation of meaningful and actionable insights that tie directly to internal or external partners’ business objectives, including new opportunities including data and analytics to support business cases for RFP/RFIs.  
  • Provide end-to-end analytical support to merchant partnership, from business casing, validation, execution and tracking of offer success
  • Act as a subject matter expertise regarding offers platform data and linked loyalty (e.g. data visualization, storytelling, KPI definition, statistical analysis, predictive modelling etc.). 
  • Work with RBC Perks & Offers and strategic partnership teams, including merchant partners to understand and develop key metrics for partnerships and programs including marketing ROI and contributable sale driven by Perks & Offers program and related marketing campaigns
  • Manage and balance multiple stakeholder needs with competing  priorities
  • Evaluate success of campaigns and financial health of merchant partnerships, combining insights across all Loyalty & Rewards, Cards and Banking products.
  • Maintain ongoing merchant level P&L including oversight and adherence of controls, consolidation of results of all campaigns, programs and assets, ensuring accurate and timely invoices to partners

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make data-based strategic decisions
  • Leadership skills with ability to lead, motivate, challenge and influence cross functional teams to deliver superior results
  • Strong Communication skills (oral and written) with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely to all levels of the company and have a talent for making the numbers, measure and targets come alive
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft office including superior excel skills and power point skills. Role will be within an information rich environment demanding the ability to absorb and synthesize vast amounts of data. Excellent PowerPoint skills and the ability to position information and key messaging are critical
  • Ability to work under pressure, focus on priorities and multi-task
  • Independent, self-directed

Nice to have:

  • Previous work experience within Cards or Banking business, Merchant Partnership or Loyalty experience an asset
  • Strong experience in marketing analytics and/or business development
  • Technical expertise regarding data model, data mining and segmentation techniques
  • University degree in a quantitative field of study (e.g., statistics, economics, business) to demonstrate ability for critical thinking & numerical analytics
