Learning Solutions Manager – Tax

Overview of the opportunity

 

As a member of our National Learning & Development team, the Learning Solutions Manager for our Tax practice, you will act as a key connection point between the functional and central learning team ensuring the functional team draws on the capabilities and resources of the central team. This role will be pivotal in learning project management as learning moves from Instructor-Led to Virtual Instructor-Led training. They will work closely with the functional learning teams on all learning priorities and support in providing a holistic and integrated training plan (technical and business/soft skills) to our people.

What you will do

Learning and performance consulting

  • Conducts formal needs assessment (in consultation with the functional learning lead/stakeholders) by identifying broad business requirements, scoping out key design/development solutions and establishing measurement targets deliverables to understand learning objectives of content and subject complexities in order to design and deliver responsive learning solutions, including the recommendation of best practices for delivering virtual instructor-led training (VILT) programs to address business needs
  • Engages with the functional learning lead and business leaders/stakeholders to understand learning objectives of content and subject complexities as they apply to as they apply to the design, development, delivery and evaluation of learning solutions, with an emphasis on virtual classroom/virtual instructor-led training (VILT) programs; consults and collaborates with client Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to analyze and define learning objectives and requirements
  • Collaborate with client teams to design and develop and implement high quality learning in a blended environment (eLearning, classroom training, self-study)/ Assess, design, develop and implement learning solutions by using appropriate development and delivery methods/blended learning solutions
  • Leads the creative design of learning and development deliverables, including instructional frameworks, content mapping, performance and learning objectives (in consultation with the relevant stakeholders/business and/or leaders), prototypes or drafts, storyboards, etc.
  • Maintain current knowledge of best practices in adult learning theory, instructional design practices, and learning technology delivery solutions and keep current with innovative and leading-edge trends / developments

 

Virtualization of learning/Instructional Design

  • Design, (develop) and deliver virtual classroom facilitated or recorded sessions (VILT), including recommendation of appropriate virtual classroom tools, platforms, etc. and relevant instructional frameworks, content mapping, performance and learning objectives (in consultation with the relevant stakeholders/business and/or leaders), prototypes or drafts, storyboards, facilitator guides, and gathering and understanding technical requirements
  • Applies instructional design principles and virtual instructor-led training (VILT) best practices in the development of virtual classroom sessions while adopting a broader view of learning solutions to recommend a modern, blended approach to supplementing VILT solutions with performance support, social learning/experiential learning and reinforcement strategies for a holistic solution, as required
  • Accountable for quality and effectiveness of virtual instructor-led training (VILT) solutions delivered; revises virtual instructor led training (VILT) learning programs using both established and innovative instructional design models and best practices, as required based on ongoing evaluation strategy
  • Maintains current knowledge of best practices in instructional design in general and virtual instructor-led training (VILT) design solutions in particular, and keeps current with innovative and leading-edge technologies trends / developments and implementation best practices

 

Relationship management

  • Responsible for the relationship management between the functional learning team/functional learning lead(s), functional HR Business Partners and the central Learning and Leadership team, ensuring the functional learning team is able to leverage the capabilities within the central team
  • Performance management and coaching responsibilities, as assigned
  • Maintains a relationship with Global Tax L&D team (non-technical) and similar counterpoints in other member firms (KPMG US, Australia, etc.)

 

Project management

  • Responsible for leading the implementation of learning curriculum, programs, performance support etc. through the learning management system (LMS) and/or learning experience platform (LXP) on budget and on time
  • Accountable for the functional implementation of the firm’s learning experience platform (LXP) on budget and on time, and integrating change management best practices to drive and achieve user adoption and sustainment
  • Accountable for leading the scoping, design, development and delivery of learning projects, meets course development milestones, ensuring delivery of quality learning solutions that meet objectives/final deliverable requirements, on budget and on time
  • Assists with project charter completion, oversees planning activities, maintains the necessary project documentation and records and proactively resolving project issues, etc.

What you bring to the role

    • Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Education or Instructional Design
    • CTDP an asset
    • 5+ years’ business experience in Learning and Development in a client service, fast-paced, collaborative team environment
    • Adult Education certificate or training (e.g. CTDP) in project management and instructional design a plus
    • A high degree of technical literacy with proven ability to design and create self-paced interactive instructional content, as well as in the design, development and delivery of best in class virtual instructor-led training (VILT) programs
    • 5+ years’ experience in working with learning systems infrastructure (LMS, LCMS, virtual classroom platforms, learning content delivery)
    • 5+ years’ experience in the discipline of eLearning and design standards, e.g. the design and development of technology based learning solutions
    • In-depth knowledge and use of various authoring tools (e.g. adobe eLearning suite, lectora, captivate)
    • In-depth knowledge of industry standards, SCORM, AICC for eLearning courseware and learning systems and technology infrastructure knowledge (e.g. servers, networking, architecture, and technology standards)
    • Demonstrated ability to prioritize issues by using clear project management principles
    • Creative software experience with industry tools and techniques
    • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage projects on-time and on-budget
    • Strong interpersonal and mature communication skills (both written and oral) to interact effectively with senior management and leaders at different levels across the firm
    • Excellent process creation and continuous improvement skills
    • Willingness to challenge the status-quo and develop and recommend viable alternative solutions
    • Previous experience working with professional service/consulting firms (accounting, legal, engineering, architectural, etc.) is considered a significant asset
