Job Description

Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPP Investments) is a global investment organization working to help ensure the Canada Pension Plan will be there for future generations. We are committed to keeping our stakeholders informed about our mandate, our investing convictions and activities.

We are seeking a digital workplace professional to join our organization for a six-month contract as a Digital Workplace Specialist, based in Toronto, Canada.

In support of communicating its brand globally via digital platforms, and increasing its presence as a thought leader, CPP Investments has enhanced its ability to reach key audiences through digital channels. A redeveloped website and effective processes for digital delivery have resulted in increased capability for producing high quality creative that secures strong engagement. The cross-functional team managing this work now requires the addition of a new contract role to assist in taking digital performance to the next level.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Digital Communications, The Digital Content Specialist will provide strong project management capabilities and digital content knowledge. This role collaborates with a cross-functional team consisting of internal resources with strong backgrounds in content development, thought leadership, digital transformation, brand building and technology optimization, who are supported by best in class creative agencies and digital marketing firms. The Digital Content Specialist will manage the weekly production of digital content for social channels and key sections of the corporate website. In addition, the role will provide insights on optimizing content-graphics, text and video-to enhance engagement on digital channels. The Digital Content Specialist will also liaise closely with the team managing the digital channels to ensure flawless execution of the content delivery.

Key Accountabilities

  • Support Senior Manager, Digital & Corporate Communications in delivering content across digital channels.
  • Provide project management support for the weekly social posting process, thought leadership campaigns, updates to the website, and e-newsletter distribution.
  • Support the Manager, Digital Channels in updating the website and performing QA and UAT activities.
  • Perform content posting to site and external channels.
  • Source and recommend images from an internal database or external sources when needed.
  • Ensure the complete components of the digital content package achieves the standards identified in CPP Investments’ Digital Content Playbook.
  • Utilize subject matter expertise to provide content owners with advice on optimizing content for digital performance (consumption, engagement, SEO, mobile presentation, etc.)
  • Recommend enhancements to the Digital Content Playbook and content management processes.


  • Three to five years of digital content experience, ideally in an agency environment.
  • Proven project management experience.
  • Strong copywriting and copyediting skills.
  • Familiarity with graphic and video editing software such as Adobe Creative Suite.
  • A solid understanding for the content limitations of each social media platform, and how to utilize the unique content delivery formats of each.
  • Very high attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of SEO.
  • Working knowledge of digital data and analytics.
  • Established relationship building skills.
  • Deadline oriented, with a proven ability to coordinate the efforts of multiple people in achieving time-defined deliverables.
  • High-performing team player with a collaborative approach and actively contributes to joint projects and initiatives.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and exhibit flexibility and adaptability to change, with a desire to learn and develop skills in financial and investment communications.
  • Able to work flexible hours outside of core office hours as required.
